Updated Streamer List

To the best of my ability, I've put together a list of the part-time/full-time streamers. This is totally based on my own observation, so if I'm mistaken let me know by sending me a message on skype.

Full-Time Streamers
Vinesauce
Tame
MentalJen
m3ss (Ravi)
Fzuul (Fred)
Bombchu

Part-Time Streamers
ToxicToothpick
VicariousGaming (Darren)
SleepDeprivation
Spacebat (Adam)
RevScarecrow
KylieTheDorf
PurpleSawdust
TheBobito
Imakuni
KY

I'm probably wrong on a few of these; I don't really know what happens in the early mornings because I can't get up before the sun starts descending. Those that are on the very edge of being full-time, let me know what you'd like to do. Read the previous blog and tell me what works best for you. Also, I decided to make Bobito and Imakuni part-timers instead of guest streamers. They're great streamers, great viewers and great friends. If you see them in the chat, tell them congrats.

Next week we'll take our first "Guest Streamer." I am excite about this. Very much!

Also, expect lots of fun stuff for Halloween, including Campfire and a movie on Sunday night. There's now a link to the movie page at the top of the blog. Praise Bill Murray.

Streamer Organization

In an attempt to organize our large list of streamers, I've decided to create Full-Time and Part-Time positions. Now, before I get any further, I'm still aware that this isn't a job, nor am I paying anyone to stream, but, this'll hopefully be a way to categorize the less active streamers and reward the more active streamers. It goes like this:

Full-Time Streamer: Someone who streams as much as daily to as little as 3 or 4 times a week. These streamers put a lot of their time into the stream, so it's important to recognize them. As somewhat of an unspoken rule, full-timers retain priority over the other types of streamers because of how much they contribute to the stream.

Part-Time Streamer: Someone who streams a few times a week and less. These streamers are understandably busy in their personal life and/or just don't have the ability to stream very often. Sometimes I'll ask someone to be a Part-Time Streamer by request if we have too many streamers and very little dead time. A part-timer is most useful to fill the gaps during our off hours.

Guest Streamer: Someone who has streamer access, but not permanently. It's not a final decision, but my idea of a guest streamer would be someone who streams one entire game over the span of a few streams. Guest streamers might be appointed when there are some open hours of daily streaming available.

We've been retaining a fairly busy stream, but our "dead hours" definitely seem to lie in the afternoon and just before then. Something like 8am to 3pm EST. Nights (6pm - 3am - remember, New York time) are more or less reserved for the more active streamers, or full-timers. Inactive nights do happen sometimes, in which case, whoever's available to stream should take over. Of course, it's good to ask if anyone's going to stream first.

It's difficult to maintain the free-for-all environment of a stream, yet still have some semblance of order. Again, this is more or less a way to help things run a bit smoother. What do you guys think? Streamers and viewers alike, post your comments and tell me if this is a good idea.

Vinepedia - Part 2

Welcome to Vinepedia! This will be an occasional series that explains some of the "memes" of Vinesauce history. Lets continue with Part 2.

Jack Nicholson - A fantastic actor and frequent attendee of many sporting events. These sports are not limited to just real life. He's been known to make appearances in Mario Kart Wii, often cheering on Vine from the sidelines. On one particular occasion, he was watching from the sidelines of Luigi Circuit as Vine crashed his Kart into the wall. Jack, always one for a good bet, was clearly disappoint as his sponsored racer, Vine, continued to lose time and time again. Assumedly, after losing so much money betting on the races, Jack had to resort to becoming a tollbooth operator at Moonview Highway. The only evidence of this was his second appearance in which he was spotted in the toll booth, shouting at the faltering Vine, "Vinny boy, Vinny boy, Uncle Jack is ashamed of you. That'll be 75 cents."

Funguy - One of the many characters from Chrono Cross. In the game, he is a bald guy who eats a strange mushroom in the forest. As a result, he himself becomes a living, breathing, fighting mushroom. The chat's insistence on leaving Funguy in Vine's party for most of the game led him to become somewhat of a Vinesauce hero. The look of satisfaction on his face can be possessed by no other living creature, be it man or myconid. His face was shooped onto many a chat regular.

Jaakko - One of the heroes of Vinesauce Vidya, Jaakko is either the most oblivious, aloof person in the world or the best troll on the internet. He calls himself the Angry Video Game Nerd and reviews games often repeatedly spouting nonsensical phrases such as "dip", uttering nearly unintelligible sentences, mispronouncing words, failing constantly and ending the video in the middle of the review. Aside from reviewing games, he produces an astounding number of bizarre videos ranging from a cube spinning in place to various community quizzes, political insights to pictures of himself shirtless and many other pointless and awe inspiring creations. Many despise him solely for the sound of his voice. Others, like myself, are aware of his brilliance. Go to his youtube account to see the insane number of videos Jaakko has contributed to the internet. The amount of his videos we have on our autopilot ensures he'll be a Vinesauce meme for a long time to come.

Until next vine, see you in the chat!

Stream-a-thon + 7 Million Viewer Minutes

As some of you may know, Tame organized a spur of the moment 24 hour Stream-a-thon. For a full day, there was not a single moment of autopilot.

It started with me doing Mario Corruptions. From there I went to a few other random games ending with 2 or so hours of Final Fantasy 9. So after 6 and a half hours of Vinesauce streaming, Revscarecrow picked it up almost immediately. He streamed a bunch of random games as well, including Facade and Happy Wheels.

This is when Tame noticed the opportunity to celebrate our 7 million viewer minutes. He started streaming and kept on going. Breath of fire, some shitty Mickey Mouse game and others. His only break was to get some food and expel his bodily functions. During this time SleepDeprivation took over. Around the time Tame was finished streaming iFluid, I, in my weakened state, took over for the remaining 2 hours. I began with Threads of Fate, then tortured myself with the Home Improvement game, completed an excellent run of Star Fox 64 and ended the Stream-a-thon with Kirby 64.

It lasted from 7:35pm est on October 19th to around the same time the next day, October 20th. Thanks to everyone that watched, and especially thanks to Tame, Rev and Sleep for helping to make one of our finest moments. Special thanks to Adam for failing at Douk Nouk Kem in an attempt to keep the streaming going just a little longer.

Here's a song I played yesterday after the streaman was done. I'm reposting it to help us reflect over the past 6 months of Vinesauce Vidya. You guys make this possible each and every day. Thanks for hanging out with us.

Call to Stream

Uncle Vine has noticed a disturbing trend here on vinesauce vidya, lack of streaman. If you check the FAQ, you'll see our large number of streamers, yet I can count those that don't stream on every finger of my right hand as well as on a few toes of my left foot. This is upsetting. Those with streamer and mod privileges should at least try to stream a bit more often, otherwise, they are no more than glorified viewers.

Now, before people start becoming Butta the Hurt from Star Wars, I know no one pays you to stream and I know you all have busy schedules. I'm just asking those that idle and chat during an 8 hour autopilot gap to pick it up here and there.

Currently, during the day (est time) there is very little streaming. This discourages viewers from staying and hanging out; after-all, how many times can someone watch the same videos before growing tired of them?

My point is, I don't want to have to add new streamers when we have perfectly capable ones available to pick up the slack. Those that do stream with some regularity, you know who you are, disregard this post. For everyone else, there are a lot of viewers who would love to stream for us, but can't because of the overwhelming volume of streamers/mods we already have. If you no longer desire to stream, that's ok too. Just let me know and we can give some other streamer hopefuls a chance. We'll still be friends.

Streaming for our regulars is a privilege, and it makes my life so much more worth a damn. I can't do it alone though guys. You're all the reason we've come so far, let's give everyone a reason to keep coming back.

-Uncle Vine

Vinesauce Homobutts Banner Contest

We here at Vinesauce Vidya have a strict policy we adhere to: If Tame's around, it must be homobutts. This policy has worked for us so far, and we've decided to take it to the next level.

Starting on October 6th, 2010 and running until October 13th 2010, we will be holding a banner contest for the stream to go into the rotational banner system. However, we have a theme: homobutts! That's right -- Van Darkholme is going to be somehow prominently featured on our website one way or another. There'll even be rewards!

Contest rules:
- Banner for the website, 1220x203 resolution.
- Homobutts themed, eg Billy Herrington, Gay Steve, Gay Ricoh or Van Darkholme.
- No actual nudity or "butts" allowed, let's keep the site SFW.
- Rainbows, Billy Herrington's Face, and the text "Vinesauce Vidya" on the banner are a huge plus.
- Must be submitted by Midnight EST on Oct 16th 2010
- Voting will be done by Vinesauce mods.

Rewards! Everyone loves some rewards, so Tame will be providing a Steam game (oh boy, here we go..) of his choosing (oh god..) to the first place winner of the contest. Second place will recieve chatango donator status for a month, and no one cares about third place!

All banners, as long as they are on topic and fit the actual rules of the contest should hopefully be added to the rotational system eventually, just not as fast as the winners.

Good luck, and may the butts be with you.
